Rapidly Concentrate and Desalt Urine Proteins with ProteoSpin™
Urine protein analysis is essential for the identification of potential biomarkers and the diagnosis or monitoring of renal and other diseases. However, preparing these samples often involves dealing with dilute solutions and interfering substances.
The ProteoSpin™ Urine Protein Concentration Maxi Kit (Product # 21600) provides a fast and simple procedure for concentrating dilute solutions of urine proteins from large volumes of urine (up to 20 mL). Purification is based on spin column chromatography using Norgen’s proprietary resin as an ion exchanger. This method ensures that urine proteins bind to the column while non-specifically bound materials, such as salts, are easily removed.
The simultaneous removal of salts while concentrating makes this kit a convenient method for preparing proteins before running downstream proteomic applications including SDS-PAGE, 2D gels, whole protein mass spectrometry, and protein microarrays.
Key Benefits:
- High Recovery: Each spin column is able to concentrate and desalt up to 4 mg of urine proteins.
- Rapid Processing: Preparation time for 4 samples is only 45 minutes.
- Large Sample Volume: Designed for a maximum urine input volume of 20 mL.
- High Stability: The kit has a shelf life of at least 1 year when stored as suggested, and individual solutions are stable for 2 years.
- Broad pH Compatibility: Protocol includes steps to adjust urine pH to the optimal binding pH of 3.5–4.
