The FastGene® 2x IC Green Universal qPCR Mix with Separate ROX is a high-performance master mix designed to simplify real-time PCR workflows while delivering exceptional sensitivity. By providing the ROX reference dye in a separate tube, this kit offers true universal compatibility, addressing the challenge of stocking multiple specific mixes for different thermal cyclers. Whether you are analysing gene expression or quantifying genomic DNA, this mix ensures reliable quantification across a broad dynamic range.

At the core of this formulation is the proprietary IC Green intercalating dye, which offers significant advantages over traditional SYBR® Green I. IC Green binds specifically to double-stranded DNA with a high extinction coefficient, generating a robust fluorescent signal while inhibiting PCR significantly less than legacy dyes. Combined with a highly purified Taq DNA polymerase and an optimised buffer system, the mix supports rapid extension rates and precise amplification, even with low-copy number templates.

The FastGene® IC Green dye distinguishes itself through superior chemical stability and non-inhibitory binding. Unlike traditional intercalating dyes that can stall polymerase activity at high concentrations, IC Green allows for efficient chain extension. This results in earlier Cq values and sharper melt peaks, facilitating precise discrimination between specific amplicons and primer-dimers.


Universal Instrument Application
By keeping the ROX additive separate, this mix eliminates the need to purchase platform-specific reagents. Users simply add the required amount of ROX to the master mix prior to the run—typically 1 μL for Low ROX instruments (e.g., ABI® 7500) or High ROX instruments (e.g., ABI® StepOne™), ensuring seamless integration into existing laboratory workflows.

The FastGene® IC Green buffers were designed to have a superior robustness. This guarantees the linearity of the qPCR and creates a better accuracy, essential for reproducible results. Additionally, qPCRs can be performed at lower amplification times for example using fast protocols. The FastGene® IC Green kit is universal. The reference dyes come in a separate vial and can be added once to the master mixes. Hence, this kit can be used with qPCR instruments which need a high ROX™ concentration as well as instruments that need a low concentration or no ROX™. There is even a special version with fluorescein.
