TransIT®-Insect Transfection Reagent: Superior Delivery for Insect Cells
The TransIT®-Insect Transfection Reagent is an animal-origin free formulation specifically optimised to provide exceptional plasmid DNA delivery into a variety of insect cell types, including Sf9, High Five™, and S2 cells. Insect cell expression systems are a preferred platform for producing proteins with post-translational modifications, and this reagent is engineered to maximise the efficiency of both transient protein expression and recombinant baculovirus generation.
Offering a streamlined alternative to traditional methods, TransIT-Insect combines high performance with a simple protocol. It allows for transfection in serum-containing media without the need for culture medium changes, reducing handling time and contamination risks. Whether you are generating recombinant baculovirus vectors using the flashBAC™ system or performing transient expression studies, TransIT-Insect delivers high titers and robust protein yields with minimal reagent consumption.
Key Benefits:
- Optimised Formulation: Insect Cell Specific. Delivers exceptional transfection efficiency in Sf9, High Five™, and Drosophila S2 cells.
- High Productivity: Boosted Titers. Promotes high-titer recombinant baculovirus production and robust protein expression levels.
- Regulatory Friendly: Animal-Origin Free. Composition is free of animal-derived components, ensuring compliance for biomanufacturing applications.
- Streamlined Workflow: Serum Compatible. No medium change is required; complexes can be added directly to cells in complete growth medium.
- Cost Effective: Efficient Usage. Requires low reagent volumes per transfection to achieve optimal results.
Technical Insights
Protocol Optimisation
To ensure the highest efficiency, the TransIT-Insect protocol can be optimised for specific cell densities and culture vessels. The recommended starting condition is 2 µl of TransIT-Insect Reagent per 1 µg of DNA. Researchers can titrate the reagent volume between 1–4 µl per 1 µg of DNA to identify the ideal ratio for their specific insect cell line. Cells should be actively dividing and approximately ≥80% confluent at the time of transfection.
