TransIT®-LT1 Transfection Reagent: The Gold Standard for DNA Delivery
TransIT®-LT1 Transfection Reagent is widely recognised as the “Gold Standard” for broad-spectrum plasmid DNA delivery. Formulated to balance high transfection efficiency with exceptionally low cellular toxicity, this reagent allows researchers to achieve robust gene expression without compromising cell health. Its gentle nature makes it the preferred choice for transfecting a diverse range of cell types, from established cell lines to sensitive primary cells.
Designed for reproducibility and ease of use, TransIT-LT1 is fully compatible with serum-containing media. Transfection complexes can be added directly to cells in their complete growth environment, eliminating the need for media changes or serum-free incubation steps. This streamlined workflow minimises experimental variability and ensures that downstream assays reflect true physiological responses rather than transfection-induced stress.
Key Benefits:
- Broad Spectrum: Universal Delivery. Proven to effectively transfect hundreds of cell types, including hard-to-transfect and primary cells.
- Cellular Health: Low Toxicity. The proprietary formulation is gentle on cells, preserving viability and morphology for accurate data analysis.
- Convenient Workflow: Serum Compatible. No media change required; perform transfections in the presence of serum to maintain optimal cell growth.
- Versatile Application: Stable & Transient. Ideal for generating stable cell lines as well as short-term transient expression studies.
- Proven Reliability: Highly Cited. Trusted by researchers worldwide, with thousands of citations supporting its performance and consistency.
Technical Insights
Optimisation for Peak Performance
While TransIT-LT1 is effective across many cell types, efficiency can be maximised by fine-tuning the reagent-to-DNA ratio. The recommended starting point is 3 µl of TransIT-LT1 Reagent per 1 µg of DNA. For specific applications or cell lines, researchers can titrate the reagent volume between 2–6 µl per 1 µg of DNA to find the optimal balance between expression and viability.
